When you arrive in the MS Delta, you might feel as though you are moving in slow-motion. We enjoy a slower pace of life while maintaining all of the modern conveniences. Many visitors feel as though a trip here lets them catch their breath for a while.
If your visit occurs between the months of March and October, you will certainly see green. In the spring and summer months, you will find the Delta to be one of the greenest and most lush places that you will ever visit. Agriculture is still one of the largest industries in the South, and Clarksdale and Coahoma County are wonderful examples of that.
The weather here is mild during the winter and spring months, but the summer and fall can be a bit breathtaking for many. With temperatures that average from the mid-80s to mid-90s and humidity levels averaging 87%, you should plan to dress appropriately.
Some things to do on your first trip:
- Visit the Delta Blues Museum
- Enjoy a meal and some live Blues at Ground Zero Blues Club
- Travel out to Stovall Farms and see where Muddy Waters lived
- Peruse the Native American artifact collection at Carnegie Library
- Take the Tennessee Williams walking tour
- Get a look at the Mighty Mississippi River from the bridge at Helena
