The Mississippi Blues Trail is a wonderful effort to recognize the legendary people and places that have made Blues music the global force that it is today. Through the placing of Blues history roadside markers, Blues sites throughout the state are much more easily located than in the past. These attractive and informational markers can be found all around the state with an especially high concentration of them in the Delta. While these markers currently feature photos, maps, and information, the future will see interactive features included with some of the markers that will allow visitors a richer visual and auditory experience.
A number of groups have come together to fund these new markers including the Mississippi Blues Commission, The National Endowment for the Arts, The National Endowment for the Humanities, the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, the Mississippi Development Authority/Tourism Division, Delta State University, and many local communities. New markers are unveiled every month. To see a current list of Blues markers, visit the Mississippi Blues Trail website at www.msbluestrail.org
